Pothana is a small village that lies along the Mardi Himal trekking route just south of the Annapurna Range. The village is located inside the Annapurna Conservation Area and can be reached by a combination of drive from Pokhara and a short hike. The drive is about an hour from Pokhara to Kande. It is around 4 hours of hike to reach Pothana from Kande via Australian Camp. The route is relaxing and passes through rhododendron forests. When the weather is clear, snow-capped mountains can be seen while walking through the trail.
Pothana is an early campsite for treks like Mardi Himal trek, Annapurna Base Camp trek, Ghorepani PoonHill trek and so on. There are tea houses and lodges built to accommodate guests. The accommodation has plenty of facilities for their guests like Wifi facility, electricity, hot showers at a reasonable price.
The village has a viewpoint, fish pond, yoga field, football field, and a small temple dedicated to Kumari, the living goddess of Nepal. The temple is called the Kanchi Bhara Temple, and it only opens twice a year.
