Ghorepani PoonHill is one of the most popular trekking routes of Nepal. It is also considered one of the easiest routes in the Annapurna Sanctuary. PoonHill lies at an altitude of 3131 m, the highest point in this trek. Traditional villages along the way, lush Annapurna forest and serene landscape are some major highlights of this trek route. The stunning sunrise amidst the mesmerizing Annapurna range makes the viewpoint of PoonHill the major attraction of this trek. 

Ghorepani (2,750 m) is a small gurung village that lies in Myagdi district. It takes around 2 days to reach Ghorepani from Pokhara. The hike usually begins from Nayapul. Nayapul lies west along the Pokhara-Baglung Rajmarg Road. Tikhedhunga (1,570 m) is the first resting stop after Nayapul but some also tend to move up to Ulleri on Day 1. A jeep ride is also possible up to Tikhedhunga but most visitors prefer the alternative option for a proper trek experience. PoonHill is around 1 hour from Ghorepani. The trek can be followed by Tadapani to Ghandruk and finally to Nayapul. The route via Ghandruk is the alternative route to reach PoonHill where the descent takes place via Ghorepani. So, the entire trek can be completed in 3 to 4 days.

Poon hill trek is very popular among amateur trekkers seeking a short trek experience or acclimatization trek before attempting a much more challenging one in the Annapurna Sanctuary. The growing popularity of Ghandruk, Ghorepani and Poonhill viewpoint has led to the increase in accommodation and food points with various facilities along the route. The route is well- marked too, so it is easy to find the way around the trail.
